Above, there is a picture of a very large empty lot located in Greater Grand Crossing. This particular lot is located on 69th and Stony Island. There was an abandoned building that was recently torn down. It's the part of the empty lot that's full of gravel. The other section of the lot, the part with grass, has been empty for over 8 years. I know this because for the past 8 years I've drove by the lot, it's been empty. These empty lots are created by businesses that close and then have nobody to buy their land.
This issue is important! When people and tourists drive by and wonder why there's an empty lot the size of a soccer field, they're right for wondering. No it's not the best economic time, but that does not mean that landscaping should be this desolate. So much could be done with this lot that could give to the community. So much could be done to improve the landscape of the area! If this lot had contents, maybe more people would enjoy coming to Greater Grand Crossing! Maybe more people would even want to move in the area because of the easy access to food.
